The GeoDome Theater at ARCHITECTING THE FUTURE

The GeoDome Theater will be featured at ARCHITECTING THE FUTURE: A World Design Science Decade 2010-2020, a public symposium at American University on June 3rd. This event will bring together the jurors, finalists, review teams, and others involved with the Buckminster Fuller Challenge. The day will feature strategy sessions exploring the best practices, leverage points and synergies needed to extend and accelerate the implementation of whole-systems/design science solutions to solve humanity’s urgent interrelated crises.

The interactive GeoDome presentations will elaborate on the meaning behind Fuller’s admonition to “Start with Universe” when considering how to solve problems on our home planet. We will explore the ecological principles that enable the conditions that support life, as well as the interconnections between global environmental, social, and economic phenomena using Uniview’s Geoscope Earth visualization module (named in honor of Fuller’s Geoscope concept). This will be presented in conjunction with the Aboard Spaceship Earth educational program, utilizing a large Dymaxion map to enable explorations of ecological relationships between the cosmic, global, and bioregional scales.

Date: June 3rd, 2010
Time: 9am-4pm (symposium); 4pm-5pm (additional GeoDome demonstrations)
Location: School of International Service, American University
4400 Massachusetts Ave NW, Washington, D.C.‎ (map)
