Our design process starts with the end goal and works backwards toward the appropriate products. In other words, choose the experience before choosing the products.
Here is a quick review of basic screen shapes and their advantages. Select the shape that best suits your needs. One important consideration is whether your dome is truncated or fulldome. Our systems are optimized for truncated projection. A detailed discussion of fulldome vs. truncated projection is here.
The number of simultaneous users determines the size of the screen. Keep in mind that if the screen diameter doubles, the square footage available for the audience increases by a factor of 4. For example, a 6 m Theater can comfortably hold 25 people, while a 12 m Theater can hold 100 people. Please see this chart of the projector options required to fill domes of each size.
The chart below is a helpful rule of thumb for choosing the right system brightness given your screen size. It assumes a completely light-controlled environment.
