Angelo State University – GeoDome Globe

Elumenati GeoDome Globe at Angelo State University planetarium lobby

A new GeoDome Globe greets visitors in the lobby of the Angelo State University Planetarium. The globe complements the planetarium’s programming with deep dives into planetary science driven by WorldViewer. The globe will reach a diverse audience – in addition to 4,000 public planetarium show attendees each year, the university anticipates 3,500 per year more from schools, assisted living facilities, and other community groups.

Visitors can drive their own interactive experiences with the touchscreen kiosk, and educators will facilitate discussions for small groups.  The globe launches with our turnkey WorldViewer Stories, as well as real NASA mission data with JPL’s Eyes on the Earth.  Angelo State’s GeoDome Globe is 1.2m in diameter. Its OmniFocus projection system blends two 4K laser projectors for 11.6 Mpix at 12,000 lumens.

The purchase of the globe was funded through ASU’s Hispanic Serving Institution – Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (HSI-STEM) grant from the U.S. Department of Education. Read more about it in the ASU press release here.
