Audiences travel through time and space in the Teleporter experience in the Kids Discovery Zone, a new wing at the Cherokee County Museum in Gaffney, SC. Interactive WorldViewer-based programming supports STEAM learning objectives in a GeoDome Panorama. The Teleporter adds 21st century technology to the traditional programming at the artifact-based history museum, showcasing the county’s historical sites with 360° video. WorldViewer creates Group VR experiences from immersive content created by the American Battlefield Trust, taking audiences to Revolutionary War battlefields along the Liberty Trail. Explorers can travel through time to experience a day in the life of a Revolutionary War soldier. They can head to space to learn about the solar system with content from NASA, and come back to Earth to interact with natural phenomena like tropical storms through datasets from NOAA.
The GeoDome Panorama is 5m in diameter and nearly 3m tall. A 4K laser OmniFocus 30350 projection system lights the dome with 12,000 lumens. Visitors interact through a touchscreen kiosk in front of the screen. We’re happy to support the museum in creating an exhibit that truly covers all aspects of STEAM, with immersion, interactivity, and the diverse content supported by WorldViewer.
