In the new Into the Deep/En Lo Profundo Exhibition at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, developed in collaboration with MBARI (Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute), the Sea Floor Diorama is a hands-on interactive with life-size models of the animals that live on the muddy plains. A curved backdrop lit by OmniFocus projection shows the benthic rover, ROV, and other technology that MBARI uses to observe and study the animals. A single OmniFocus 30350 with folded optics is mounted overhead, with 3840×2400 resolution at 9,000 lumens. The exhibit is driven by an Elumenati image generating computer, and we consulted with the team to customize an Omnity configuration for the content they built in Unity.
We also supplied the blended UST projectors in the new exhibit’s seafloor gallery, and updated the projectors in the popular Jelly Dome exhibit upstairs – which we provided way back in 2012. It’s an honor to collaborate with the creative team at this iconic institution, and to support their critical mission of inspiring ocean conservation.
