Visualization Center C – GeoDome Theater

The Citilab project was an early part of the Visualization Center C in Norrköping, Sweden. The center, which hosts a dome theatre, exhibition halls, cinemas, research facilities, and conference arenas, creates a platform for research, production, and public activities centering around data visualization. Citilab acquired a GeoDome Theater with Uniview in 2008, launching the program at a New Media festival.

At the same time they started a close collaboration with the Centre for Climate Science and Policy Research (CSPR) to produce a climate change-oriented, Uniview-based live presentation. The CSPR was excited about the possibilities of using the GeoDome to bring visualizations of their data to a wide audience.

The GeoDome collaboration has created media attention for both groups and generated funds for further climate visualization research. It was invited to be part of international and national dialogues on climate change, including the COP15 climate summit in Copenhagen in December 2009.
