Elumenati and OpenSpace at ASTC!

Elumenati and OpenSpace project Booth at ASTC 2022 conference

We’re excited to collaborate with the OpenSpace Project at the Association of Science and Technology Centers Conference – 2022. Join us at booth 1415 to experience NASA-funded OpenSpace software in a GeoDome Portal and, for the first time, on a GeoDome Globe. Visitors will explore critical systems here on Earth and experience the wonder of touring the Universe, all through our WorldViewer interactive interface.

OpenSpace is a visualization and presentation tool that enables live exploration of the known universe, including observed data, models and simulations, recent discoveries, and even space mission activities. The software is open-source, so it’s free to download. And it’s cross-platform, so you can use it almost anywhere in your institution, from immersive settings like planetarium domes and theaters, to exhibition spaces, learning labs, and as part of a wide variety of educational programming. OpenSpace is enabled for GeoDomes through WorldViewer’s Open Playground extension, enabling third-party applications to run on domes and in spheres with a unified WorldViewer user interface. Several of our recent OpenSpace installations are profiled here.

Here’s the schedule of presentations at the booth:

  • Monday, September 12
    • 12:45 PM The Moon with Carter Emmart
    • 3:45 PM Mars with Carter Emmart
  • Tuesday, September 13, 2022
    • 12:30 PM The Moon with Carter Emmart
    • 1:00 PM Exoplanets and Astrobiology with Dr. Rachel Smith
    • 2:00 PM Mars with Carter Emmart

ASTC takes place in Pittsburgh,  September 12-15. The last time we exhibited at ASTC was in 2019, also with OpenSpace, when we created the Space Pirates exhibit in our 360° Cyclorama. We can’t wait to re-connect with our science center colleagues and collaborators. Hope to see you there!
